About the Okanagan

In the past couple of years, the Okanagan, Kelowna and Vernon have experienced much growth and the opportunities in the region have greatly increased.

The City of Vernon's population is estimated at 55,000 people, but it is suspected that this will change dramatically if things keep up as they have been. The new Performing Arts Center has brought a number of well known musical artists to the city, just as the new Multi-Plex Arena had brought many entertainers to it. There have also been many new shopping centers recently built in the city, including Wal-Mart, Superstore, Home Depot and many others. With all of Vernon's commercial growth, it's only a matter of time before the little city of Vernon becomes the bigger city of Vernon.

Vernon not only has one of the top ten most beautiful lakes in the world, but it is also home of the world renowned Silver Star Mountain ski resort, which provides the city with much tourism.

The people of Vernon (generally speaking) are laid back and friendly. People keep things casual and fun, even in business when it is convenient.

Community events include the Winter Carnival, summer festivals, and some holiday fireworks. We also have the Armstrong Fair (Interior Provincial Exhibition & Stampede) every September (about 20 minute drive).
